In 2026, ISSA Festivals Of Sails will beheld in a new, especially warm and supportive format — a flotilla for youngcaptains, as well as for experienced sailors who are ready to support them andshare their knowledge and experience.
This flotilla is designed specifically for youngcaptains — those who have already moved beyond basic training sails but stillask themselves important questions:
Am I doing this correctly? Is this the right decision? What if the situationdevelops differently?
We believe this is exactly where real professional growth begins.
Educationaland Practical Program
Each day begins with a joint morning briefingdedicated to one of the topics most relevant to young captains:
- stern-to mooring
- alongside mooring
- maneuvering in confined spaces
- anchoring with a stern line
- man overboard recovery under sail
- sailing race rules
- as well as topics proposed by the participants themselves
After the briefing with an experienced speaker, who will be available to answer any questions, participants will have time forpractical training:
applying new skills with their crew or practicing together with an experiencedinstructor on board.
The day then continues with a sailing race to thenext anchorage or a short sporting course. This format allows participants to experience sailing races without stress,understand the rules, feel the start, learn how to read the course and thewind, and later review all elements together with more experienced colleagues.
No pressure — only support and healthy excitement.
Route and Format
Route:
Marmaris – Citflik – Buzuk Kale – Bozburun – Serce Limani – Cayagiz Koyu – Marmaris
Daily passages:
Comfortable distances of 15–20 nautical miles.
This format allows participants to:
- dedicate sufficient time to learning
- take part in sailing races
- swim and relax
- enjoy the sea without haste
Who we invite
Young captains who want to:
- structure and deepen their knowledge
- gain confidence
- try themselves in sailing races
Experienced captains with their crews, who wish to:
- demonstrate a high level of skill
- participate in the races
- share their experience
- become part of a strong professional sailing community
Participation Fee
An organizational participation fee applies.
The fee includes:
- three group dinners at restaurants
- marina berthing fees
- award and commemorative items for participants
- expenses related to organizing evening activities for the flotilla
The participation fee is €200 per participant.
Event speakers are exempt from the organizational fee.
Festival Outcome
After the festival, participants will take homenot only memorable experiences, but also greater confidence in their decisions,a clear understanding of how and why actions are taken on board, a new orexpanded experience in sailing races, and valuable professional connections.
