It is with profound sadness that we inform you of the passing of Juan Basacoma, former President of the International Sailing Schools Association (ISSA), who left us last week.

Juan served ISSA with unwavering dedication, integrity, and passion. His leadership, insight, and humanity left a lasting legacy on the organization and all who had the privilege to work alongside him. He was not only a respected leader but also a cherished colleague and friend to many in the ISSA.

In this difficult time, we share with you a heartfelt letter from Juan's wife, addressed to all ISSA members.

Dear All,

It is withprofound sadness that I inform you of the passing of my husband, Joan Basacoma,your Honorary President, pioneer, and one of the founders of the association.

Beyondbeing a beloved husband, today we have lost a man deeply passionate about thesea and dedicated to sharing his knowledge with others. His energy and devotionto ISSA throughout all these years will remain forever in the memory of thosewho knew and respected him.

I sincerelyhope that the association will continue to honor his commitment and his spiritof sharing, which contributed so greatly to making ISSA what it is today.
