On the final day of Boot Düsseldorf 2025, a significant presentation caught the attention of those interested in the future of sailing. Ms. Anita Marszalek, the Chief Trainer for Inclusive Sailing at the International Sailing Schools Association (ISSA), delivered an insightful talk on the Sailing Instructor Training of People with Disabilities (SIPD) program. The program is a groundbreaking initiative that reflects the growing commitment to making sailing a more inclusive and accessible sport for individuals of all abilities.

The SIPD project, which was launched a few years ago by ISSA, stands as a unique and pivotal opportunity for sailing instructors and enthusiasts to expand their knowledge and skills in adapting sailing instruction for people with disabilities. It’s not just a training program—it’s a movement that aims to reshape how sailing is taught, breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity on the water.

As more sailing instructors become certified through SIPD, more sailing schools and clubs around the world will be equipped to offer inclusive programs. This will help expand the reach of sailing, bringing the sport to a wider audience and allowing people with disabilities to participate in races, regattas, and sailing events they may have otherwise missed out on. The broader sailing community will also be enriched by the presence of diverse participants, fostering greater understanding and cooperation among sailors from different backgrounds and abilities.

The upcoming SIPD session in 2025 will be scheduled on 26-29.03.2025, Spain.
