Conference of the 'Prevent Plastic Pollution'
The first conference of the 'Prevent Plastic Pollution' programme took place in Limassol, Cyprus, from 6-9 April 2022. This is a programme developed by ISSA together with the Polish-German 'Pomerania' lYFR (international Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians). The programme is intended to create a pro-environmental approach both among sailors and in their communities.
Reduce + Reuse + Recycle
The ISSA and the Pomerania fleet invited representatives from organizations involved in environmental issues to attend the conference. They came from 15 countries, including the following institutions:

- Investment Fund PIBIR
- Word Maritime University
- "Terra Cypria"
- Ministry of Maritime Transport of the Republic of Cyprus
- Mirva Kadi - artist and influencer promoting ecology
- Limassol Chamber of Tourism
- The Anglo-American foundation "International SeaKeepers Society"
- Department of Fisheries and Marine Research of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Cyprus
- "IN MOCEAN"
- Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences
During the conference, projects that the participating organizations have organized are organizing, legal regulations and proposals for new initiatives were presented and discussed.
The outcome of the conference is the establishment of a coordination committee, the setting of further steps in several areas and the need for further meetings of this kind. We will report on the progress of the work in future editions of the catalogue.
